Damp patch on bedroom ceiling

There’s a damp patch on the ceiling in DC’s bedroom. The attic is above. Is it likely to be a leak? Is it a plumber I need? Feeling a bit lost!! Thanks for any advice.

Lots of people here taking wild stabs in the dark as to what the problem might be. The only way to know is to take up the floor boards, take a look underneath, and the source of the water should become clearer.
