We are going to get a new kitchen, cupboards, counter top and like everyone wants good quality to price ratio. Probably more emphasis on price. Considering Ikea, Howdens, B&Q. got some potential builders from mybuilder.com but think they have their own too? Any feedback appreciated. thanks

Ours is a Howdens kitchen, the previous owners had it put it in around 2016 and it still looks fairly new. However they also added a wooden work surface, never ever again as they're a nightmare to clean

We've got Howdens which was fitted this year and so far it's been great.

A friend had Wren and said they were a nightmare.

Love my Wickes kitchen (Tiverton, with laminate worktop).

Considering going with DIY kitchens. They seem to get good reviews in terms of quality for the price.

DeedlessIndeed · 15/12/2024 15:22

We had Howdens this year. Make sure you negotiate hard price-wise with them - personally I did a plan with DIY kitchens and got Howdens to price match.

Also don't go with Howdens for worksurface - other companies do exactly the same ranges much cheaper.

Their kitchens are really good quality though.

To add, we didn't get the quartz from Howdens, our fitter used a local company which saved us about £700

We got ikea. Really good

susan1984r · 15/12/2024 17:43

slightly biased towards ikea, they have like a doors guarantee, so if damaged within 5 years in anyway they replace free? they do charge £20 to draw up a plan, but refund if purchase think? any company do a 'free' design plan?

I meant they come up to measure, and draw up a virtual plan, or we have to measure up ourselves as a minimum?

DIY Kitchens!

Better quality and lower price than all the big names, and without any of the sales BS.

Nonyummymummy · 28/12/2024 18:47

Hi there, have had IKEA kitchensl in the past and was very happy with it. I have heard some people get IKEA carcases and then the doors from elsewhere if necessary. For current house got it from DIY Kitchens. We live in London and actually went to Yorkshire to finalise our choices but they have an excellent online planning tool and I think they now have a showroom in Oxford as well. Kitchen has been in for 6 years and is still as good as new.

We went with DIY kitchen. Just finished fitting it a few weeks ago so can't vouch for longevity but really impressed so far.

Buy a proper kitchen not a cardboard/ikea one if you plan to stay 5+ years.
