Hardwood flooring for kitchen

As per my other threads we are renovating the kitchen. Started thinking about the flooring.

is hardwood one a good option or will it be costly + easily damaged?

any other options? I was thinking of LVT but I’ve read a few bad comments regarding quality and how long it lasts …

thanks for your help in advance

We have hardwood engineered boards
Easy to clean. Look good, long wearing. I hate the plasticky feel of LVT personally

We have a good quality LVT (fitted 3 years ago) and I love it. We have it everywhere except the lounge and our bedroom. Easy to clean, warm to the touch and IMO looks great. We have a grey slate effect. Would definitely recommend

Thanks both

@ItsYourMoneyRalf did you check different types ? Was hardwood much more expensive than others ?

I currently have engineered timber and it looks good that being said it is looking faded and could do with sanding and re staining which is going to be a pain and also dropping a plate etc on it it's going to chip and damage whereas LVT is a bit more waterproof and durable

I also wouldn't do it if you have integrated appliances like washing machine and dishwasher in there - mine are in the utility so it's not an issue but if you have any leaks and it gets in the engineered wood the wood can lift and go black and then you can't repair it very well

I want to replace mine with LVT when I have the money

We have natural stone in the kitchen and it's brilliant.

I would choose wood over plastic because if the plastic gets damaged it will very obviously look like damaged plastic flooring, but if you ding wood it'll just add to the character imo.

I would suggest real wood over engineered though if you can afford it because with engineered it's only a few mmls thick and you can't sand it too much before you hit the MDF.
