Expanding foam behind radiator

We had an electrical socket taken out as we're having a radiator replaced with a larger one. The electrician put this expanding foam to fill in the gap and said it could either be left or we could put bit of filler in. This is our first house and we're not very knowledgeable about DIY... I'm also worried about this being behind a radiator but not sure what our other options are. Shall we get a plasterer to come round? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Why have they put expanding foam in?!

You should have just had the gaps plastered over. We had a load of plugs removed a few months ago - the electrician put some blank plug cases over the holes to cover them until we got a plasterer to come and properly fix them.

It's not a problem though not ideal. Put some filler over the foam flush with the plaster and repaint. You are never going to get a plasterer to come and do such a small job I'm isolation.

I mentioned we were getting in a plasterer for another job so said we could get a plasterer to do it, but was told that it would be too deep for a just plaster over the top... Thanks for your reply. I will still show to the plasterer and see if they can rectify!

Thanks. I do have a plasterer coming round for a bigger job so I may see if they can anyway. If not, I'll follow your advice!

because the hole is too deep for plaster alone to be used to fill it

Foam will often shrink over time, so it's a easy but not ideal way to solve a problem.
But it won't cause any massive issues.
Hopefully your plasterer will be happy to improve on that.
Proper filler then plaster and make the decor good would be what I'd be hoping for.

If it's going to be behind a radiator it really doesn't matter we had a similar hole I filled with easy fill and just sanded it down - but will never be seen as now behind a radiator.
