Extractor fan/vent solution for kitchen where oven is not near exterior wall

We have an extractor fan which isnt a real one, its one of those charcol filter types because the wall the oven is on, backs onto a conservatory so we had the vent closed off, dont want bacon fat and steam blowing in there thank you very much

We've generally got on well without the need for it but over time Ive got the hump about the rest of the house smelling of onions and bacon or fish if we forget to shut the kitchen door

However now we have a mini oven/airfryer/steamer we do need to make sure we have proper extraction when using the steam function on it.

We could have some ugly clumsy configuration, running out the top of the cooker hood, along the wall to the left which then leads to the area above the window and the extractor pipe/tube leading out there. Would look hugely ugly

Another thread (about buying a property with black mould) a poster has detailed a company that sell vents, like you get in bathrooms, I didnt think of these, I wonder if I can get something small and discrete above the kitchen window but even those vents are plug ugly and Im wondering what other options there are?

Any ideas?

My hood extractor goes out through the conservatory. It is ducted along the (previously external) wall to the outside. The duct is boxed in.

Presumably it goes to the outside through brick?

Ours would be going out either above it through glass or to the side through glass and I dont want a great big pipe way below the roof height anyway. Hideous

Lol, better than a stinky house. It's about 8 foot up where the roof joins so you don't see it and goes out through the glass.

I took the extraction pipe up through the ceiling Ito the upstairs which was a bathroom. It then went along under the floor between the joists and exited the outside wall. Job done.
PS: Didn't do
it myself. Kitchen fitters did it but was my suggestion as similar problem to you.

I dont understand how this would work, surely you have to have a hole cut through the glass which would be pretty impossible? Its triple glazed thermal/solar glass too.

The extractor fan original exit from the old external wall is around head height, or just above

The room above the kitchen there I think is the bedroom but would have to check. This sounds like a big job though considering the kitchen is already done. Although I am looking at getting the house all redeocrated over the next couple of years, new flooring etc.

When we moved the location of our hob from an external wall to an internal one, my OH ran ducting under the 1st floor floorboards so it could exit via an external wall.
Was a bit of upheaval at the time but when done it worked really well.

My parents had theirs ducted through the conservatory.
Of course it depends of the individual layout but in their case it worked well and when done, was not immediately noticeable.

I have a feeling the top of the conservatory comes too high. Will have to check. Problem is I dont know who to ask or who to get round, tradesmen never get back to you or turn up.

À diagram would be useful.

Can you go up into the ceiling void and find a route out? It may depend on which way the joists run.

I wouldn't use a bathroom fan as the cooking steam is likely to be greasy.

I will try and do photos, Im not very good with things like this

Could you not run the ducting above the current wall units to an outside wall? I have just seen a video on this where the chap has a 2m run of ducting and he achieves an incredible extraction rate.

Our house is quite identifiable now I think it locally so I wont post pictures of the outside. Just the inside. Once Ive worked out how to do it

Ours is boxed into the ceiling above an island in the middle of the room. It vents up into the ceiling void and straight line out through the room next door to an exterior wall.
