Which bedroom would you have?

Just as the title says, which bedroom would you have as a couple? Dh thinks the one on the right as its longer but DS wants that one and technically the front left bedroom is the master room

Hi
Id have bedroom 3 and I’d make a doorway into the bathroom. This would give a ‘Jack & Jill’ en-suite.

minipie · 11/11/2024 10:54

I’d have whichever one is quietest so depends whether there is a busy road out front or noisy neighbours one side or where your noisiest child will sleep etc.

This.
Whichever bedroom is quieter and nicer.

I’d prefer bedroom 1 as it looks like it has fitted wardrobes in it and prefer it as it’s square rather than long.

TickingAlongNicely · 11/11/2024 11:00

I would draw up plans of radiators, windows and furniture and work out which room firs whose furniture best.

Twiglets1 · 11/11/2024 11:01

Also have to take into account which bedroom better fits a bigger bed if you have a larger than double bed.

Katherineryan1986 · 11/11/2024 11:05

Is the floor of the bedroom above the garage well insulated? It could be a colder room than the others.

I like the idea of the jack and jill bathroom someone else mentioned.

But overall I would pick the square room with the fitted wardrobes.

DustyLee123 · 11/11/2024 11:07

Front left. Our room over the garage is noticeably colder

Davros · 11/11/2024 11:07

Turn bedroom 4 into another bathroom, ensuite to bedroom 1

GettingThemFromHereToThere · 11/11/2024 11:23

I'd for for one that will fit the bed and enough storage.

CleftChin · 11/11/2024 11:26

Probably the one over the lounge, as I'm also the one most likely to be up late, and I get annoyed hearing people flushing the toilet at night.

But TBH, I'd have to go and have a look, and if my kids were staying up in the lounge later than me I might switch to the back bedroom instead.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 11/11/2024 11:28

Three is going to be very cold, three outside walls and an unheated void beneath.

Chillilounger · 11/11/2024 11:43

The one overlooking the garden ( whichever that is)

choirmumoftwo · 11/11/2024 11:51

This is the same layout as our house, although we have an en-suite to the bedroom over the garage. We used that as the master for a while so DC could have similar sized bedrooms when they were little. It was fine, but always tight getting round the bed, which was only a double.
If your DC are older, I'd give them bedroom three and use one of the square ones as the master. Much easier for furniture as others have said. We did this and Dd loved having a separate 'wing'.

julia08 · 11/11/2024 12:01

I’d give your son the bedroom over the garage. Long and thin makes the space more usable for him to have separate bed/desk/play areas. Plus as others have said, it’ll be colder.

Pfpppl · 11/11/2024 13:17

Either of the 2 on the left (assuming they are the same size as can't read the dimensions) - whichever is sunniest.

Nevergonnamoveagain · 11/11/2024 13:26

Lots of interesting points. Does anyone know of any app I can use to play around with where furniture may go?
The room above the garage is definitely colder but DS hates cold so that's another thing to think about. The other rooms would be used by my other 2 dc, it was just my ds and Dh disagreeing on which room they wanted.

as someone with an almost identical layout as yours although out long bedroom goes to the back of the house

We did go for the long bedroom but the king bed only just fits and we had to find extra small bedside tables in order to fit it in.

I would think about your furniture, how you want to use the rooms and how everything will fit in and flow.

nomorehocuspocus · 11/11/2024 14:48

I'd go for the one with the fitted wardrobes in it. A long bedroom is really awkward for fitting in a large bed and enough wardrobe space.

Nevergonnamoveagain · 11/11/2024 17:06

Sorry I meant to say that it doesn't have fitted wardrobes as they were taken out.

Do you have any pics of the rooms? Are there any nice views from either of them?
