Pull Out Kitchen Tap - Good idea?

ProcrastinatorsAnonymous · 10/11/2024 17:24

Building a utility room and thinking about getting one of those taps with a pull out hose on them. Seems practical for washing dirty kit etc, but I've never had one. Are they a good idea? Or do you have one and regret it? Do they break easily? Features to look out for? Brands you'd recommend or would avoid? Any tips gratefully received! Thank you!

We have a tap that is a lift off hose and can be a spray or normal. It’s absolutely brilliant. Wasn’t mega bucks (from b&q) and just makes life a little bit easier.

Watching! Always wanted one but the only one I've actually used myself was leaky so would be good to see what people think!

Watching with interest!

I don't know if it's exactly the same as the domestic ones (but I hope so), but years ago when I worked at McDonald's we had one of the high ones that you pull down. Absolutely loved it. Brilliant for cleaning and never broke in the 2 years I was there. I always wanted one for my house, I love them. The only problem was you had to keep pulling it down to keep the water flowing; I imagine domestic ones don't have that issue though.

I love mine! Do it.

We have moved and I really miss mine. They are really useful but yes, get the spray head

In my utiliity room I got a deep pot wash sink and industrial spray tap, and it is the best thing ever. It lets me blast dirty stuff and the depth of the sink keeps everything contained

Patienceinshortsupply · 10/11/2024 18:13

We got a cheapish one from Screwfix and I honestly wouldn't be without it - it's a godsend for the utility room sink and I wash the dogs under it too! When our main kitchen tap goes I'll replace with the same.

DixiePeach · 10/11/2024 18:17

Ours is Screwfix too and love it. We have a butler’s sink and it holds dirt in the corners so having this tap makes it easier to clean.

AlannaOfTrebond · 10/11/2024 18:36

We've got one (think ours maybe Screwfix too) in the kitchen and I absolutely love it. The utility room will be getting one next.

This is encouraging! My husband's parents used to have one which constantly leaked, apparently - so that was putting me off. But perhaps if you get a decent quality one, it's OK? I'd like stainless steel - without the spiral mechanism being visible on the outside. Does anyone have one meeting that description that they'er happy with? Who makes good ones? What's the Screwfix one everyone has?

Thanks so much - this has been really helpful.

Ours is this one - so has a regular tap and separate spray tap that you just have to squeeze. I love it, use it all the time and prefer it to the one at my parents which is either a regular tap or press a button and pull it out to use as a spray one.

Ours is similar to this, it really does make a huge difference for such a tiny change and I will never go back to a fixed tap.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/11/2024 22:43

I've got one. It's quite useful. Only issue I've had is the two it's self is stiff to move.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/11/2024 22:44

Tap!

ProcrastinatorsAnonymous · 11/11/2024 09:05

Thank you! I think we'll go ahead and get one!

Bought a Grohe one and is also leaky so never ending up using it!

Leoislazy · 11/11/2024 09:29

I love mine. It’s around 3 years old and no leaking to date.

CoughyGoLightly · 11/11/2024 09:31

We're 4 years in with our Aldi one and no problems! It's great
