Finding a house with land

NoOneKnowsWhoYouAre · 09/11/2024 17:40

Is there somewhere that I can look. We want a detached house with a small bit of land around it but Rightmove just keeps bringing up places on housing estates.

Ask local estate agents for advice.

Littletreefrog · 09/11/2024 19:46

Change your Rightmove search to areas that aren't built up? You can draw a map of your search area. But probably you need to speak to Estate Agents for this one

Autumn1990 · 09/11/2024 19:47

On the market is slightly better for this
Local paper
land for sale Facebook group

it depends if you are looking for large garden (upto an acre) or a small holding and where you are in the country

SunQueen24 · 09/11/2024 19:48

There’s some Facebook groups dedicated to it, it’s hard to search for land as there’s no filter on rightmove. Try “equestrian property, small holdings & farms for sale in the uk”

ChangeEmailAddress · 09/11/2024 19:57

Try land agents rather than estate agents.

mjf981 · 09/11/2024 20:23

Farmers Weekly

HeddaGarbled · 09/11/2024 20:29

Look at villages rather than towns and be prepared to skim through the Rightmove listings.

Roryno · 09/11/2024 20:29

There are some goid Facebook pages (see photo).
Rural scene is usually good too.

carly2803 · 09/11/2024 20:30

jackson equestrian

what area and budget?

PreFabBroadBean · 09/11/2024 20:52

Add the keyword acre or acres to the Rightmove search.
Try

www.thesmallholdingcentre.co.uk

Thanks all. We are looking in the East of England area. No fixed place really. Rightmove is useless so I will look at some of the suggestions

What are you planning to do with the land?

Ellmau · 10/11/2024 11:29

Savills maybe?

Not a lot really, keep chickens, bees etc.

Second PP's suggestion of The Smallholding Centre. Also there's a site called UK Land and Farms which has a good search facility. You can also search for land agents in the area because land agents will often have links with the estate agents in the area who deal with less urban property.

ClapTrapVonTrapp · 10/11/2024 14:09

Savills
Fisher German
Bagshaws

ClapTrapVonTrapp · 10/11/2024 14:10

Also Strutt and Parker.

RareMaker · 10/11/2024 14:11

Try savills

Vallan · 10/11/2024 16:20

How much land?

We have 4 acres, plenty for chickens, bees, paddock - found via normal high street EA.

If you're looking for a small holding with more acres, Google small holding for sale in your search area.

FloofPaws · 10/11/2024 16:29

Following! I'm putting feelers out for when we semi retire next have tried searching small holdings, farms, kennels and catteries too

Not too much maybe an acre or so. Everything seems to have tiny gardens. I just want a bit of wild. Even if I put land as an option in RM it comes up with houses with gardens the size of postage stamps!!

Find an area you like (I'm assuming Suffolk will fit the bill) do a large search radius of a semi rural but large town (like Bury St Edmunds) with your budget and room numbers, you should find plenty in that area.

CCSS15 · 10/11/2024 18:44

What's your budget?

LaPalmaLlama · 10/11/2024 18:53

Round here the landed properties (lots of equestrian properties) tend to go through Fine and Country

choppolata · 10/11/2024 19:11

Primelocation has a keyword filter which is useful. Try 'no near neighbours', and be prepared to end up with a lot more than 'an acre or so'!
