Working on a tight completion deadline!
Received this in survey from Edwardian terraced house we plan to buy (this was in response to our request to comment on feasibility of making kitchen and dining room open plan):
The steel supports for the rear ground storey wall removals appear to sit on/in the piers/brickwork which forms part of the partition walling and we suspect that it will be problematic to fully remove the partition wall without extensive new structural steel work and if you do have plans to remove all of the partitioning between the kitchen and dining room you are advised to consult with structural engineer prior to purchase to ascertain feasibility and costs. We suspect it would be feasible to remove the section of lightweight partition walling, however we would advise that you engage a competent builder.
The rooms together measure 23 foot by 16 foot 5. Just how expensive can this work get? 10k? 20k?
