Housing Association - Loft spaces

I live in a housing association home (Greensquare) and have been told I am not allowed to use the loft space for storage.

It is a small 2 bed property and I'm really struggling to find space to store things such as seasonal decorations etc.. I would use a shed but worried about damp/mould.

Just wondering if others, despite not being "allowed" to have used their loft space anyway? How can they check? What repurcussions are there if I do use it?

What would you do? Would you use the loft anyway and if they were to come and check, just take everything out temporarily?

Any help or experiences appreciated!

For Christmas decorations and anything light I would use it near the hatch only though. Metal sheds on a concrete base are great though.

Have you got a copy of your tenancy agreement? You should start there and see what it says.
Is the loft boarded out?

Is it because it isn't strong enough to support weight? I've heard that is the case for some newer builds.

It's a 1950s prefab house, currently not boarded so would need to do this but haven't really had a good look up there as there isn't a ladder 🤦‍♀️ all I want to do is chuck a few boards up across the joists and put my Christmas tree and decorations up there 🤣 how they say no to that is crazy!

Your first mistake was even asking. Just put some boards up and get on with it.

Just have it near the hatch and they have to give notice for any inspections so you’d have time to take it out

I think it's to do with fire regs, had this in a shared ownership property l viewed.
