Renovations late in pregnancy???

Hi mumsnetters xx
I am 6 months into a triplet pregnancy and want to know if anyone on here how long renovations will take. I've spoken to couple of different companies, as well as friend who have had similar renovations and have been given several very different time frames.
So I want to know, anyone who has had a small bedroom addition, how long would this project take in the greater Manchester area. We were also planning to have new tiles put up in our kitchen, but a friend of my husband will be doing that so we can trust it will be quick.

Thanks all :)

I am not in Manchester but every single renovation I've ever done has gone over budget and over time, especially since covid. What sort of bedroom addition are you planning? A ground floor extension or building over a kitchen extension or loft conversion? I'm guessing with a triplet pregnancy the chances of a prem birth are higher? So unless you absolutely need to do the work, I'd be tempted to put it off. We did a loft conversion when DD1 was 10months old and it was very stressful, but if it had been going on when she was in NICU and then bringing her home to a building site, it would have been absolutely awful. The dust was everywhere - even the rooms that were sealed off. Not what you need when you are trying to nest and prepare for 3 babies coming home.

@CrispAppleStrudels Yes I totally agree, and I assume most people will agree with you. My husband and I are considering waiting until just before the trio begin school, as we think that's probably when they'll start to need more freedom. Thanks :)

Even if the work itself only took 3 months, getting builders out to quote, making a decision, then the builders being available to start will take you way over your due date.

I would also add, building work can be very stressful and don't underestimate the impact of stress on your health and wellbeing during pregnancy. Do the easy things (painting, putting tiles down), but any major renovation it would be best to put it on hold for now! Take care of yourself

@2025andbeyond Funny you mention painting, I've painted 3 of our bedrooms so far into my pregnancy because I find it so relaxing 🤣
