Convert garage in to a room

Hi everyone, i just want to get your opinions who converted garage in to a room.
we have 2 ideas;
1- convert garage (back of the garage) in half to study and other half to a utility room?
2- convert garage in half study and other half keep as a garage?
we have big enough driveway for 4 cars so we are not sure that we need a garage or not. We definitely need a room for study. Floor plan and garage picture is attached for a guide. We convert the bedroom 1 to a kitchen dinner, changed the floor plan. Any ideas please? Thank you

What a lovely big space. I do love a bungalow for the flexibility.

My only negative is it's a bit of a shame to carve up your "daytime" space to the two opposite ends of the house with bedrooms in the middle. It would flow better if they were closer together. And you don't need a long living dining room when you have a big living dining kitchen. Consider whether you change bedroom 2 to a living room instead (maybe nibbling back the wardrobe space from bed 2 to make it more generous) and divide the lounge diner into a bedroom and a study. Then just take a little slice off the garage for a utility and keep the rest for storage.

Could you build forward to bring the garage in line with the kitchen, you could either double the size of the kitchen or have a kitchen utility that then leads to an office space?
I suspect the cost wouldn't be that much more as you wouldn't be moving kitchen, plumbing etc to the rear and it's still behind the front elevation of the house

We bought a house which had already had your option 2 built in. If you decide to make half garage/half a living space that you'll sit in rather than just to house washing machine etc - do make sure the living space is really well insulated as ours was very cold. I say that as someone who doesn't really feel the cold.

I like the new layout you propose, but agree with PP about offices being perhaps better grouped together.

could you have both garage rooms as offices, then the bedroom closest to the kitchen as the utility and make that smaller if needed?

we did think that make living room in to 2 bedrooms but living room is at the front where you can see the front window is on the left. We like bedrooms at the back is better than the front. We are just figuring out the plan, haven’t done anything yet. Thans for the comment 👍

thanks for the comment. I don’t think we can bring till the boundaries as i assume that we can’t get planning permission for bringing to the boundaries.if you extended kitchen and bahroom towards the neighbour’s wall it will be so dark and won’t be useful as well.

This is possibly more work than you want to do but I would make the current living / dining room into the master bedroom and add an ensuite which should be fairly straightforward as there's plumbing in the adjacent WC.
Then convert the current kitchen into bedroom 3.
Keep the front part of the garage for storage space.
Knock the wall down between bedroom 1 and 3 to having living / dining space in bedroom 3 opening onto the back garden and kitchen area in bedroom 1 zone. Then a door through into the back of the garage for a utility area and into the office at the very back. Or potentially put the utility on the back of the current bathroom and make the kitchen go more horizontally into the middle of the garage space.
Or......do you have space for a garden office and keep everything in the house as it is?

Thanks for the idea. We don’t want to use garden for the space as it’s not too big garden and keep the garden as it’s. Play with the layout, changing the rooms or kitchen, etc. we did think extend the kitchen to the side through the garage but there is bathroom in the middle, so we can’t do that. Our living room is in the front of the house on road side,so we don’t want to convert living as master bedroom, keeping bedrooms at the back is ideal. Kitchen/dinner is more useful for us than just kitchen. We need 3 bedrooms,1 study and kitchen/dinner. We need to change the floor plan from this layout. Thank you
