Hi everyone
i’m writing here in hope there’s some helpful advice out there. We bought a help to buy for all its woes and fast forward seven years the flat is too cramped for the family. We’ve been making it work but it’s a 1 bed with 2dc so as you can imagine desperate to move on. After being on the market on and off for three years we finally got an offer. It was so bad where we’re making such a dramatic loss but we did the numbers and felt we could accept in a mission to move on with our lives!
The agent ( who receives a flat fee of 6k in a sale) was putting the pressure on too saying she has 180k deposit, she’s a good buyer as it’s first time chain free etc. they were terrible agents and always would make out we were being difficult for our hesitation in losing so much money. They absolutely couldn’t say enough good stuff about the buyer. It was almost like is she paying you or are we!?!? But yesterday after a week of evasiveness and no progression she pulled out. Apparently a change in circumstances meant she couldn’t proceed. From the jump I’ve been concerned because even the iD check was totally avoided by her. Meanwhile we’ve had an offer accepted on our dream place. The price and location we were left pinching ourselves especially as we had to bid to get this house agains another potential buyer. The vendor chose us as we are a family and suited their time scale. Of course we all devastated as we may well lose this house. I haven’t told the agent yet but has anyone had any experience with enlisting two agents or any good things to say to at least buy us more time? We know this may not make any difference but we just don’t want to leave without putting up a fight! The house we offered on was tenanted so no onward purchase and no one is in the property to consider. Also we hate our estate agents and the worry is if we leave it will take longer to get viewings etc. Any advice is golden right now!! Feel scared it’s over for us.
