Bathroom 22 years ago.

Mum5net · 20/10/2024 14:40

Our bathroom is 22 years old and an EA came in to value and said: 'Lovely bathroom looks relatively new'. I didn't correct him!

Scirocco · 20/10/2024 20:21

En-suite bathroom. It needs re-doing (cosmetically) as it feels dated now, but other things keep jumping ahead on the priorities list.

TizerorFizz · 20/10/2024 20:26

Bathroom 33 years ago. It’s an en suite with a big walk in shower, white tiles in the shower and two green blue glass basins, glass worktop and a dark wood floor. Looked smart then and still does now. Was not cheap and it’s lasted very well.

Fleximama · 20/10/2024 20:32

I did repaint my bathroom about 12 years ago but the tiling and sanitaryware were installed in 1998! Thankfully it's plain white so doesn't look massively dated but it's definitely getting a bit mouldy and tired.

abracadabra1980 · 20/10/2024 20:39

Hallway, just finished re sanding and painting. Taken 3 weeks. Big clear out and it looks fantastic! I'm so happy 😀

Spagettifunction · 20/10/2024 20:42

Our kitchen and bathroom are 7 years old and still look brand new as I went for timeless fittings

Karatema · 20/10/2024 20:45

Can't remember if it's the bathroom or the paintwork in the hall, kitchen, lounge and guest room - all about 10 - 12 years ago xx

TizerorFizz · 20/10/2024 20:49

We also had a big alteration of space on the ground floor. That was 14 years ago and we have changed nothing. Not even painted anything again.

candycane222 · 20/10/2024 20:53

Well thinking back we moved here 26 years ago and there's a room which had some hideous wallpaper in when we moved in and - it still has? Does 'never' count as a long time ago?

AutumnLeaves24 · 20/10/2024 21:00

Bathroom - 10 years ago & I still love it & people always say how nice it it!

rest of the house was meant to be done at the same but big life & heath changes mean it hasn't been.

TwistedSisters · 20/10/2024 21:07

Well we moved in 4 years ago and the only rooms we havent redone yet are the ensuite on the master bedroom and the main bathroom. Neither are terrible, just a bit tired. Not sure how old they are, guessing around 10-15 years.

housethatbuiltme · 21/10/2024 11:26

I'm in a rental and nothing has been updated, we have lived here a decade and a half and nothings been done in that time but nothing was new then.

Our bathroom must be ancient with its dark wood, paneling, huge corner bath, old giant feature tiles of scantly clad women in windows pouring urns of liquid, gold taps etc... got to at least be from the 70s. It is literally rotting and rusting away in real time, the floor is collapsing, the pipes leak from rust and nothing works but landlord wont replace it.

Kitchen quite old with its heavy orange wood and wood paneling ceiling, so old some of it (like the subway tiled parts) have come back into fashion. Possibly same ages as bathroom as that area of the house was built at the same time. Both where probably top of the line expensive at the time but is destroyed purely through age.

The wallpaper in the hallway is the exact same one my childhood house had in the 90s, I remember the decorators hanging it so circa 1995-ish. The personal nostalgia is part of why I liked the house.

Built in wardrobes classic pre my lifetime. Had the same ones in our childhood home which where there long before I even existed. From rightmove old listing it seems most houses on the street had the same ones but they certainly can't be Victorian so everyone must have choose to add the same ones later.

Living room was probably the most modern decorated room in the house, its magnolia with a feature wall straight out of the 2000s and dark laminate.

TentEntWenTyfOur · 21/10/2024 11:34

Our bedroom - wait for it....... 35+ years ago.

It is now on the list though, and we are planning some fitted wardrobes etc. Slight hiatus at the moment due to DH new health worries, and having had to unexpectedly replace one of our cars in the summer.

The bathroom

Kitchen and Bathroom were last refurbished in 2007, we spent a considerable amount of money upgrading these. Kitchen was extended and knocked through, still in good condition 17 years on. Bathroom is starting to look tired though…

Rest of the house has been re-decorated and new flooring over the last 5 years. In the process of being sold so no doubt the new owners will put their own stamp on it.

DanielaDressen · 21/10/2024 17:00

Lived here 23 years and never touched the spare room, it didn’t look like t had been touched since the 80s when we moved I dh as piled so much crap up in there I can’t face opening the door.

good96 · 21/10/2024 17:03

One of our rental properties we purchased back in 2009 had the original features / kitchen and bathroom from when it was built in 1961. Same owner - the whole place was falling apart! We did only pay £35k for it though when neighbouring properties on the same street sold for £90-£100k in the same year..
We sold the property on in 2022 for £145k.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/10/2024 19:57

My house was built nearly 26 years ago and I moved in nearly 24 years ago.

I haven't touched the main bathroom or dining room, both of which had been repainted from builders magnolia by the previous owners before I moved in.

The main bathroom needs doing, we are currently in the process of fitting a new ensuite and I think the bathroom will be next.
The dining room needs repainting as the paint has faded, but I still like the colour so might just redo the same.

Onelifeonly · 21/10/2024 20:01

Only bought the house 13 years ago. There are only two rooms we have never touched - loft room office and bathroom. Have discussed latter but not the office which is used solely by my DH to work in. But kitchen really needs a proper update - stuck for a builder at present.

Greenbanana7 · 21/10/2024 21:56

We're doing our minging 80s bathroom finally after 15 years living in this house, I am inordinately excited!

Twiglets1 · 22/10/2024 06:58

We moved here about 6 years ago and the only room we haven't redecorated in that time is our bedroom. That will probably be painted next year.

My friend hasn't redecorated any room in her house as far as I'm aware since moving in about 30 years ago. Now it's on the market; she's not getting any offers despite reducing the price and can't understand why.

I might be outspoken on here sometimes but in real life I can't bring myself to tell her why.

Marbledwhite · 22/10/2024 09:32

The wallpaper in my bedroom is at least 35 years old and I don't want to change it as it's lovely and in good condition.

The floor has been sanded, the wardrobes spray-painted and the woodwork repainted in that time but the wallpaper stays.

Aposterhasnoname · 22/10/2024 09:33

Dining room, probably about 18 years ago.
