Shared mains inlet, pressure and water meter

Hi

I have another post about boiler choices which I can't work out how to reference but this is separate/only sort of connected. Trying to keep this to the point: I have a shared mains inlet comes via my adjoined NDN to a stopcock in the party wall. Apparently, common in my road.

I am having a new kitchen in an extension. A water meter was fitted as compulsory by TW a year ago, which I didn't want. It is sited up by the ceiling at the stopcock which I want to move as it will now be visible in my new kitchen and is a truly silly place for it to be. Also a silly place for the stop to be but that was pre me.

They are saying contradictory things. 1 - the "majority" of their meters are fitted at stopcock but simultaneously 2 - it MAY be possible to move it.

I can pay to get a surveyor out to assess if it can be moved. IMO if it can be moved then original placement in a ridiculous spot was optional in which case I resent having to do that now vs at the time have it put in a sensible place. If the original placement was non-optional then I resent having to pay for a surveyor to come and tell me it can't be moved as a result. The fact not 100pc of meters are placed at the stop says that it's not set in stone.

The other inconsistent part of what they are saying is that since their responsibility for my water supply ends at the point it enters my neighbour's property, I can move my pipes where I want. I'm struggling to understand how that fits with any verdict on their side about non-choice or choice about placement of a meter.

One other thing is my water pressure is dreadful. Which TW say nothing to do with them. So I guess (?) something for me to take up with my neighbour.

I understand from them I can get direct mains but this is something I would have to pay for.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations around any of this?

Can I tell TW "these pipes are moving to here. Where and when do you want to move your meter?"

Thank you! Sorry long
