Upstairs one is always getting blocked.

Need a new one. Going to get a new bathroom fitted next year but need a new loo now.
What brands are solid, long lasting with a good flush?
Needs to be close coupled, open back and I've been looking at rimless. Anyone know if rimless are any good?

I was looking at RAK. But have no idea if they are good.
Thank you!

Hi there, depends what style (modern or more traditional) and budget you have. Rak is a good brand but not so popular.
Geberit, Vitra and Duravit are the most popular.Tavistock and even Eastbrook can offer good quality with a smaller budget. Rimless is great and very soon will be done by all (or almost all) companies.

If it's getting blocked it may be the pipe or the drain rather than the loo. I would get that checked before getting a new loo, if it's not flushing well you can get a new flush mechanism and see if that solves the problem.

We've had 2 plumbers look and they say it's the way the toilet is designed it's just too small an opening so it plugs up easily.
Only moved in a few months ago and not sure how old the bathroom is but it's pretty ropey.

We had a RAK rimless toilet in the house we recently moved from. Great for easy cleaning, but still got limescale build up as it’s a hard water area. The problem with ours was that you had to ensure the toilet lid was down before flushing as otherwise water and whatever was in the toilet bowl would get splashed up by the force of the flush. We also had problems with it blocking!

I would see that as a plus, not a problem. Flushing without putting the lid down first is gross!

We had 2 different rimless loos fitted a couple of months ago. With both, when sitting to wee, urine is reflected off the flushing shelf onto the top of your legs and bum, and it collects on the underside of the seat. One of the toilets has the water much further back than a traditional loo. So poo splatters onto the ceramic and the flush just isn't strong enough to shift it meaning people repeatedly flush. Both loos need cleaning far more often than any traditional loo we've ever had before. As for being economical with water - I don't think so!
