Good Primary and Secondary Options London

We are looking to move to have a bit more space. Our daughter is 4 next year and we won’t have time to move before school applications so looking to move for the following year.

Ideally we would prefer North London and to stay within Z1-3. South London isn’t completely off the cards, but would have to have to be near excellent travel links.

Does anyone have any recommendations for areas to look at? Budget around £1 million for three bedrooms. We won’t be moving again hopefully until children have left home, so willing to put the time and effort in to making it ours, just no idea where to look as we know nothing about schools!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Finchley area- although may be a bit under budget. Worth a look. Borough of Barnet has excellent primary and secondary schools.

Thanks! I certainly don’t mind under budget! Have had a look and has lots of the style of house we like and could even get 4 bedrooms there. It’s just quite a bit further out than I was hoping for. It feels very suburban, but I guess that might be the compromise for the price and schools.

Where do you need to get to in London?

Bromley had great schools and great train links with London Bridge/charing cross/victoria.

State or Private? Tufnell Park/Kentish Town (Zone 2) has lots of good state primaries and a range of mixed and single sex secondaries, plus grammar options on the Islington side if you're so inclined, plus private choices more centrally. Something for everyone.
3 beds for £1m might be a stretch but worth a look.

For 1 Mil budget with an eye for senior schools I'd go:

North:
Muswell Hill, good schools, family friendly and still close to the West end.

South:
Carshalton village, has a Hampstead /Dulwich vibe without the silly house prices, and in the borough of Sutton which has great schools at primary and senior.

East:
Woodford, again has a nice vibe and great schools.

West:
West Ealing, a short few stops to Notting Hill, good schools and lots of families moving in priced out of Queens Park.

Thanks all will check them out! My husband wfh mostly with occasional drives out to satellite offices and a few times a month to Luton. My head office is in the city, but I’m usually based on projects in central London (mostly City/West End).

My husband’s family live on the trainline out of Liverpool St and we see them 3/4 times a month, and they do a bit of childcare so need to have easy access there. Driving to theirs from North London isn’t too bad, but south would be difficult unless we very near a station.

Oh and we are looking at state schools, not private.
