Best paint stripper for a door?

DIY noob here. I have a couple of doors that I'd like to strip and repaint. What's the best stripper to use? (I think the old paint will be satinwood, but who knows how many layers are underneath!) I don't want to have to take them off the hinges, if possible.

We sand, much better result, but doors off and laid flat. Our previous house 1930s, had the original doors,we paid had them dipped and stripped.

Skirting board in our last house,we used an electric paint stripper and proper mask

If I was attempting this without taking the door off I’d probably go the heat gun route rather than use a toxic paint stripping chemical. They’re fairly easy to use and also cheap to buy, the paint just goes to mush and you can scrape it off easily.

Just be aware that you might be dealing with lead paint if the door is old, so wear the right mask and make sure ventilation is good if that’s the case.

Thanks all! One door has a glass panel in, but I suppose I can steer clear of that bit with the heat gun, and just sand it.

Having re read your op, if you’re going to repaint, it’s unlikely you actually need to completely paint strip the entire door. Just sand back what’s there to remove any drips or rough bits, then primer/undercoat. Ready to paint, and a lot less hassle than removing all the paint that’s there.

You can of course, just slightly key the surface (sand down a little,) you need proper sanders,if you're doing a lot of work, we have a mouse, for little jobs and corners,a big belt sander, but if you do this, you will get a build up of paint. The key to any decent decorating is preparation..we took the doors outside on a dry day, laid flat on a pasting table,to sand down. I already mentioned proper filter mask!

Sorry meant to read "if you don't do this" or sand down to basic wood.
