Housing register help!

hi, i am on the housing register with my local council (using kent homechoice) and have recently been moved from band d to band c, which means a lot of the "suitable" properties that come up now i'm between 5-10 on the list for. the only problem is i'm now too scared to bid because i don't know what happens next.

i have very bad mental health issues (bpd, ocd, cptsd, audhd etc) and physcial issues (i have a blue badge etc) - do they take this in to account if say i went to a viewing and realised the parking was too far away or the are it was in would trigger certain things? or is it just a once you get offered it you have to say yes kind of thing? also does anyone know the process of what is expected of you with viewing and any steps you need to do? sorry if none of this makes a lot of sense, i'm just fairly overwhelmed and not sure where to find this info

edit: also if i need adaptions such as using my own washing machine or grab rails installed etc how does that work?

Contact the housing register team and ask for help. They should be able to advise you in advance which properties will meet your needs so that you only bid on the ones that you would be able to accept if you were successful.
Make a start by writing 3 lists about the property you want to move to.
’must have’
’nice to have’
and ’cannot have’

For example, the property I wanted to move to:
’must have’ ground floor
‘nice to have’ own garden
’cannot have’ more than 10 meter walk to car park

thank you, i'm very very nervous with phone calls so it may take me a while to build up the courage to be able to do this, i will start working on a small list that i feel will help in the meantime though :)

Don’t worry about grab rails and washing machines. They will be sorted when you move in.
Would you find it easier going to the council offices and asking to speak with someone from the housing team?

Ah, these are the main things I am worrying about though haha. Is it unreasonable for me to want new washing machines/bring my own from home and stuff like that. I'm worried about having to turn down a property if that is something I am unable to do.

I was hoping someone on here would know or be able to advise me but yeah, I think contacting the housing team would be my best bet, i'm not sure why I didn't think about that to start with honestly! thank you

You bring your own washing machine I'd think, and they'd only put in grab rails if assessed as needed by an NHS OT

‘They’ won’t put grab rails in, no, but once you have secured a property you can put as many in as you want or need.
