IKEA hack help

I made a DIY bookcase wall with IKEA units that aren't billy so when we put them together the sides have protruding screws and gaps. I see people putting in 'trims' on Instagram videos but have no idea where to start. Can you cover up an uneven gap with a trim? Is it just some wood from b&q? Is there any IKEA white colour match you can paint it?

The gap isn't the same from top to bottom, do the bookcases need levelling to make the gap uniform? I would do that first, then look for a plastic trim (eg double glazing supplier) which could be glued over the gaps.

Thinking about your problem some more, normally Ikea units wouldn't have protruding screws - are you sure they are assembled properly?

Protruding screws is probably the wrong phrase. It's three Gerby bookcases and each one has 6 allen keys that aren't countersunk down each side. So when you have two bookcases side by side the raised head of the allen keys touch and create a gap. I think they're too flimsy to take us trying to countersink the heads ourselves unfortunately, hence looking for a trim to cover it m

Look up T shaped trim for something you could push into the gap.

If you need to make the gap even, you can just pad by sticking some bits of something of the correct thickness deep inside to space them off each other more evenly.
