Brightening paint for lower ground floor

We‘re just finishing renovating our lower ground floor, which sits on the north facing side of our house and is partly below ground level. There will be a door and window in the main room, but there’s a laundry room, small cloakroom and corridor with no natural light. The ceilings are also fairly low. I‘m wondering about paints that will bring in some light. Has anyone used Dulux Light and Shade - was it worth it? Any other ideas? I am thinking white, but any other tints to consider that might add a bit of warmth?

The space will be used as a bit of a mashup for practical stuff (bringing bikes in and out a bit, storage, maybe sofa bed, kitchen overspill, maybe a bit of gym equipment) so reasonably hardy paint would be good! Floor will be large format mid grey tiles. Thank you 😀

Yes we have used that paint and it does work, but I don’t think you can get it in ease care…

Depends on how you want it to look!
Get plenty of downlighting in if you can.
Personally, I’d go for a striking warm yellow or ochre. Think tongue and groove panelling if bikes are involved.

Yes, you’ll need bombproof finish to the paint but most colours can be mixed in eggshell finish

Thank you! That’s really helpful and a good point about the eggshell. We repeatedly trashed our old hall with our four bikes! In terms of look, just clean and not dingy, really. The rest of the house is really pretty, so this is the practical area

Pale yellow or apricot ceilings make you think you have left the light on ☀️
