Is my wall doomed? Help

This is our front wall, it's Cotswold stone with concrete mortar. As you can see it's not in great shape.

I think I need to replace the concrete mortar with lime mortar, so it stops breaking up like this.

What I don't know is whether it's already too late.

Can I save it if it looks like this, or is it doomed?

Also, can I do it in the autumn, or will I need to wait till the spring?

And how much would a job like this coat?

It's about 7m long and like this all along :(

You need to join Your Old House UK - Repair and Conservation on Facebook. This is exactly their no. 1 expertise.

I know you can use lime mortar at this time of year because I just have, but you want to avoid the risk of frost when you’re doing it. That’s presumably not going to be an issue for a bit if you’re in the Cotswolds.

No idea about saving the cracked stones though, I’d wonder if the worst ones might need replaced.

Lime needs to be used at 10 degrees or higher...so yeah it can be done this time of year. A good stonemason will be able to sort that out for you
