We desperately need our kitchen floor sorting. It is tiled but has several big cracks and chips, it just doesnt look great, and im also sick of cleaning the grout!
I wanted to get the LVT flooring fitted but have hit a bit of a wall and am not sure how best to proceed.
Our kitchen used to be split into two rooms (before we bought the house) - a kitchen and a smaller utility area. The foundations under the floor are different in the original kitchen area vs the old utility area - when you tap the tiles in that part of the room, it sounds almost hollow. The tiles have cracked there and there has been damp on the wall there in the past. Apparently all of this is being caused by an issue with the foundations, or area underneath the floor tiles. No professional flooring fitters will lay vinyl tiles over the current tiles as a result. They are saying there's no point because the floor underneath in that one part of the kitchen (probs about 2m x 3m) is too unstable and may cause the vinyl tiles to move/lift over time.
I'm a bit stuck as I'm not sure what I'm meant to do next... who would I speak to to get the flooring issue sorted? Would it be a general builder or is there a specific type of builder that would deal with this sort of thing? I am just not sure who I should be contacting!
(I'm new to the whole home improvements thing, as you can probably tell...)
