looking for some advice on an issue I’m having with my insurance.
context - first time buyers of a period home built in the 1800s. Survey reported historic subsidence but no evidence of this currently.
when we bought our home insurance I was honest about this and we were excluded from several, managed to find one which is quite over priced but also theres an excess of £7500 for anything relating to subsidence. I’m worried about trying to claim for anything in the home and the insurance company linking this back to subsidence and this may end up costing a fortune.
friend who also has a period home says subsidence is v common and I didn’t need to disclose it because now have opened a can of worms.
should I switch home insurance to something cheaper?? Any advice welcomed as I know nothing !
