SSTC Vs Under Offer

Are they interchangeable? Or do they mean something slightly different? Just asking because our sale shows on Rightmove as SSTC and our purchase as "under offer". Different agents though...

Pretty much interchangeable, though some agents use them in different ways.

Agree they are generally interchangeable.

I take SSTC as being a bit more solid than "under offer" but that might just be me.

Under offer means someone has made a offer. SSTC means it more formalised such checks being done.

Have to admit this is what I was worried about. You think it means they might not be serious?

The place I am buying shows as under offer and has done for the last month. I can assure you I am entirely serious about the purchase and things are proceeding fine. I have no idea why the vendor's ea decided to use that terminology.

Same here, we are well into the conveyancing process now but our purchase shows as under offer. I was tempted to as the EA to change it but don't want to seem like a lunatic 🤣

Every estate agency where I have worked for over 25 years there two terms have been used completely interchangeably.
