Offering on a probate property

Do executors selling a deceased persons property have the authority to accept an offer? And if so can the legals then continue to point of exchange?

As the prospective buyer, is there anything I need to consider?

You need to ascertain whether probate has actually been applied for and/or where the executors are in the process.
You won't be able to complete until probate is granted.
It can take a very, very, very long time for probate to be granted.

@SuunMove Yes, executors have the authority to reject and accept offers on the property. And yes again the conveyancing can go ahead up to the point of exchange. If probate had not been granted by this time you'd be well advised to wait to exchange until the executor had the authority to enter into as binding contract. And you definitely won't be able to compete until probate is granted.
The selling agent should have asked the executor for a copy of the will at part of their initial checks, so if you're at all concerned ask them to confirm that the person selling is actually the named executor in the will!
