Water stopcock

I'm due to have a new kitchen sink and taps. There is a stopcock under the sink with a gate valve.

Would it be best to keep them, or will it be okay if they were removed?

The main stopcock is in the garage.

There's also a stopcock upstairs for the water tank, and a gate valve in the airing cupboard, although of course these would be for water coming into the bathroom.

Thanks!

I would not remove it.

I suppose there is a probability that the more stopcocks (joins) the increased probability of leakage.

OTOH the more potential you have for isolation, the more you can shut down areas of your house if they spring a leak without having to shut off other stuff - so for example if the taps spring a leak in the kitchen the bathroom is still operational.

I am not sure what plumbing best practice is these days, but when I had my new sink installed they put those low profile inline shutoff valves that can be turned off with a screwdriver in.
