Cupboard for coats/hats/everything! Advice on how to organise please.

Cabinet maker will build me a cupboard with maximin dimensions 1m deep x 83cm wide. It is 2.7m tall.
underfloor heating continues underneath it and there is wiring for a fan to keep it fresh. I would also like to use my heater shoe drier in there (wall mounted). Also my shark cordless.
My dream is to clear my hallway of smelly shoes and too many coats. But I don’t know how to organise the space. I need to make it easy enough so teens and DH will comply. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to look or how they might do it please?
Four of us have maybe 5 coats each , 5 pairs of trainers each , walking boots, 6 pairs leather shoes between us, wellies, cagoules, waterproof trousers. Plus hats and gloves, day rucksacks, handbag or two, tote bags etc.. They are all fairly necessary as we are very outdoor people (dog walking, rainy walks, school, smart coat for work, lightweight coat, freezing weather duvet coat, similarly gym trainers, trail trainers, day to day trainers, going out trainers )
We don’t have a lot of storage elsewhere and wardrobes and bookshelves are small and rammed so I want to make the most of the space.
I would be very grateful for any ideas or suggestions where to look please. My smelly overcrowded hallway and I thank you.

1m deep is very deep! I'd worry about all that kit languishing at the back so my first thought is pull out drawers/shelves for shoes... One drawer per person?

Also, with that much depth to work with you could use the back of the door for storage maybe. A bit like those deep pantry cupboards with shelves on the inside of the doors, maybe that could work for hats/gloves etc?

With that much depth I would put floor to ceiling shelves or cubby holes at the back, 30cm (1 foot) deep. Then hang 2 rails for coats, as high up for the first one that adults can reach. The rails are 60 cm from the original back of the 1m deep cupboard (allowing for the 30 cm deep shelves and half of the 60cm needed to hang coats). This leaves 10 cm so you can have hooks on the back of the doors for every day coats and / or a tall mirror.

It's like a Narnia cupboard. Can fit loads on the shelves at the back and just push past the coats to access. You can be as clever as you like with the shelves. Draw a design where there's a tall space for your vacuum etc. so instead of straight shelves it becomes a more complicated set of boxes, but still quite straightforward for a carpenter.

If you can get the rails high enough but still reachable for everyone then there might be space on the floor for tall boots, big sports bags.

Measure your coats. Stand with a hanger and see how high you can reach. Draw it on paper and calculate all heights and don't forget to include the thickness of rails and shelves.

We used the ikea wire pullout drawers for shoes in our understairs cupboard. I think they’re 60 cm deep. Your carpenter could presumably make some wooden ones to your depth?
Do you have a garage next to your hall? If so, can you knock through so your cupboard is mainly in the garage with the architrave the only bit protruding into the hall?

What about pullout shelves?
One for shoes, one for coats
One for hoover/ miscellaneous?
Each could be 26/7 width.
Or two wider one shallower depending on what you want to store.

If you want children to use it then what are they most likely to use?

Or cubbies in an L shape? Essentially like a walk in?

I have IKEA drawers for my shoes.
You could do similar and then have hanging space next to it.

These are all super helpful thank you. Silly app was showing no replies at all and I was feeling quite glum. Sadly garage is far down the garden and drafty with an asbestos roof so no use for handy coat storage. But I like the idea of cupboards at the back. And Narnia!! Definitely cupboard goals!
