Is there a way I can remove this to clean it? Was able to remove the u bend part and it was full of gunk but can’t remove the top bit. It’s so stiff!! There must be more gunk there as it’s still dripping a bit when draining

You just need a pair of adjustable grips on it, it wont take much , hold the other part when you start to turn it. It should undue easy.

Do you mean the white bit or the black part higher up ?

DamnNutella · 22/08/2024 14:29

The white bit. I seem to be getting water stuck in the ubend part, it’s not draining easily so there must be more gunk somewhere. Will have to buy some adjustable grips as don’t have any.

Before you take it to bits, have tyou tried a load of soda crystals and boiling water down it !

What about a brush - the bottle cleaning type with long bendy handles

DamnNutella · 22/08/2024 20:59

@Jeezitneverends I don’t have any but just put some Mr Muscle down - 🤞

The white bit should just unscrew by hand. Where's the drip?

DamnNutella · 23/08/2024 08:27

@PamelaD it seems to be a slow drip from the top. A tiny bit of brown water accumulated overnight. I can’t unscrew the white part as it’s too tight. DH also tried and it’s not budging at all. Will go to Screwfix today and look at that seal kit you recommended. Thanks

Just undo it all , clean it out, make sure the little sealing washer is clean and properly inplace / seated and put back together. Sometimes this is all that needs to be done. Its the first thing to try before going out and spending any money. But you will still need a pair of adjustable grips to undo it.

it could be that whoever fitted it in the first place has cross threaded it. ? Plastic threads are easy to do that, also easy to over tighten .

I have had one ( brand new ) that would just not seal properly without a bit of plumbers mate on it .

Its trial and error sometimes with these things ….. keep at it 💪🏼
