Feel a bit and wasn't sure what to say. I bought nine years ago so am not too bothered but still........should I be bothered? It's a two bed flat, and we had thought of moving but after being gazumped twice I gave up. ((dithers and wonders what she's posting for))

well maybe his prediction was just a little premature... ...

In 2005 the market was on the verge of a fall when the Bank of england lowered interest rates to er start the whole circus.Mervyn King now admits this was artificially rigged to get prices rising again and was a mistake. Now we just have further to correct to go back to sanity.

Another thing you have to remember is....

Houses have been overpriced for quite a few years. It was stupid for a 3 bed semi near me to be worth almost 600K last year taking into account average local incomes. I don't think its a bad thing if people are now coming to their senses and refusing to pay stupid prices.

Swedes - I worked on a research project earlier this week looking at economists' predictions from the 1991 and 2001 slowdowns and practically every forecast was wrong, some by a very wide margin - in both directions!

lots and lots of houses for sale around here too

1dilemma · 19/04/2008 23:54

personally I think all buy to let income should be taxable (ie not after deducting mortgage interest) why should that be deemed more important than putting a roof over the heads of families and every adult should be allowed to claim tax reliefon only one property/year (none of this serially moving into each BTL as you sell it and claiming it's your main home)

I don't have any expectation that this will happen!

Awmum42 · 24/05/2021 16:43

I wouldn't worry about it, only matters if you want to sell. Also article id probably not accurate

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 24/05/2021 17:15

Well given that this thread is THIRTEEN years old @Awmum42 I'd say there's a bloody good chance it's no longer accurate!

What on earth made you bump it??
