Moving house - when to decorate?

We’re moving house next month and it’s a total blank canvas so I’d like to hire in the decorators.
We of course want to get moved over as soon as (we’re renting at the minute so no rush to actually get out) but at the same time I’d like the place decorated.

Does it make more sense to hang fire moving stuff over, or just start moving over regardless? I was just thinking it’d be easier for the decorators if there’s no furniture in the way!

Easier for decorators to work without any furniture around. We did this when we last moved. Everything was painted in one of those soft white shades and a few years later we changed to coloured walls to our taste.

We did all our decorating before moving in, if that's an option, it'll be much quicker and easier.

You can decorate before if you know exactly what you want. We thought we did, decorated and ended up changing 12m later once we had got used to the space. You might want to live in it a bit first so you know what the light it like, put a few swatches on the wall see what they’re like throughout the day etc.

Much easier to do without furniture in. Though decorators are hard to come by, my friend is fully booked until January!

yes much easier with no furniture

Thanks all for the replies. I think the issue is even though we’ve agreed date of entry I’m wary of anything going wrong and me having booked decorators for that week - I really wouldn’t want to waste their time and our money!
Not sure what the best course of action is..

Also very true that decorators are well booked up so ideally I’d like to book them now but as I said wary of anything going wrong.

Edited

I’d book them in but explain the situation and see if there may be some leeway on their availability if you did need to push it back.

If you’re in a position to decorate before moving in I would absolutely do it, I’m currently trying to decorate bedrooms and the juggling act of furniture is an absolute pain!
