Plastic walls in conservatory

Hi
please help !!
first time buyers and we have bought a house r recently where the walls in conservatory are plastic. I showed it to a person who is a painter and he said he can’t paint this as it’s plastic and we don’t know what’s behind. The previous owners were using it as an office and pretty much hid it it’s like in panels and not smooth. But it looks tacky now with everything removed.
Could you please give any suggestions wther it can be painted or what to do? Not much budget to remove and replace.

That doesnt look like a conservatory- there are no glass windows
Is the plastic covering glass?
What do the walls look like on the outside?

Looks like UPVC cladding. Easy enough to remove, it'll just be tongue and groove but wouldn't be surprised if they haven't plastered behind it and you'll just find the bare wall.

It does look like UPVC cladding and if you just want a cheap fix it is easy to paint with Zinsser Allclad paint - no sanding, no priming and you can use it on wood metal or UPVC.

I have similar stuff in my bathroom.
It's attached to a wooden frame with unplastered and very rough and uneven walls behind it. It was the cheaper and easier option than leveling them all out and tiling

If yours is similar it could be expensive to replaster etc but you can get some more if the same stuff and freshen it up again,it comes in different colours and patterns.

As others have said you can paint uPVC. I would just do it myself. Suspect it's hiding the rendered external wall? You can take it off, frame out and plasterboard.

So can this be just painted as it is

UPVC can be painted, but it needs specialist paint. If you are hoping to do it in normal internal emulsion then probably not. Having said that there may be primers around that would allow it, but you'd have to wait for someone more expert than me to come along to advise on that.

I've painted upvc window frames using zinsser primer. I used zinsser perma white on top, but you can use any paint over the primer I believe.
