Would you see this as a red flag?

Taken ages to get our hosue ready to put on the market. Very nearly there so next few weeks.
My neighbour told us today they are also going to be putting their house on the market. Probably able to do it just before us.

We are in a cul de sac of 5 houses. I'm paranoid now that people will see two houses on the market at the same time in such a small cul de sac as a flag something is wrong with the area/neighbours/ other.

We both have different reasons for selling and both moving miles out of the area... for reasons unrelated to the area.

Would you find this odd/ would it put you off viewing?

More info for ref
Houses are very similar. They are end we are middle though.
We are a young family they are an older couple. Think they want to downsize now the kids have moved out.

They told us the price they are going for and it's very slightly more than us but they are an end so makes sense

We bought our previous house when next door was on the market. No issue- they had both been there a long time.

Weirdly, when we came.to sell next door decided to sell too- relocating to their home country due to family reasons (we relocated for similar reasons). Again, no issues. I don't think the agents even had any queries about it!

Three bungalows in a row for sale when I bought mine. All elderly people needing to move for health reasons. Didn’t stop them all selling in about a week. Property market was a lot hotter back then though.

Thank you! Your comments are really reassuring.

Yeah we know the market is a bit slow at the moment so may take a while but was just concerned some may see it as a flag.

Great to hear stories of it not being an issue at all!

As long as you are open, there's not normally an issue. Happens more than you think! (We moved last Autumn)

No, it’s not a problem.

We live in a row of 20 houses and, when we bought, the other half of our semi was on the market too - it honestly didn't occur to me that there might be anything wrong with the street (and there wasn't!)

Lovingsummers · 08/08/2024 00:24

Not an issue. Just coincidence.

Turophilic · 08/08/2024 00:30

I’d ask about any adverse planning permission etc - is a bypass being built behind the houses or something? - to make sure there wasn’t an underlying reason for the residents to leave.

Beyond that, I’d put it down to coincide.

I can't see it would make any difference. When we bought our house we looked at 2 in cul des sac up for sale.
