When to do a Home Buyers survey when buying a property?

At what point do buyers normally arrange a home buyers survey when buying a property? Our buyers haven't mentioned they want to do one or have even arranged one. I know it's completely up to them if they want one done as some people don't but we are due to exchange contracts in 4 weeks. So just abit curious! When I first purchased a property, we arranged one before instructing a solicitor to pursue the purchase, so thought this was the norm?

I agree, it's one of the first things you do after your offer has been accepted. Maybe your buyers are not bothering to having one.

It's usually done after draft contracts are received and mortgage offer issued.

I sold my house last year. and my buyers didnt do a survey. i was expecting it but they never did..

We didn’t get a survey last time we moved, neither did our buyer.

My daughter on the other hand got a survey quite late. This was because she was waiting to get her mortgage offer first.

Most buyers would get this booked in once the contracts have been agreed so as not to waste too much time and Money if something unexpected comes up and they have to pull out of renegotiate. I would assume this far down the line they’re not going to have one.

We waited until the chain was complete which took a ridiculously long time, so it was quite late on in the process

Both of these have already happened. They just might not feel the need for a survey which is their choice

Maybe we will be the same and they won't feel the need to get one

I really don't think they are interested in getting one - which is fine. Their mortgage offer was completed about 2 months ago so assume one would of taken place then

I agree, I just think they aren't that bothered in getting one which is fine and completely up your alley them

Our chain is pretty much complete and everyone is happy to exchange in about 3 weeks. So I just feel they aren't worried about getting one which is fine and their choice
