10 weeks from offer acceptance no draft contract

Should I be worried?
Out offer was accepted by the vendor 10 weeks ago. We've got mortgage in place, paid for searches and survey and yet our solicitors haven't even received the draft co tract package yet?

It's a very (what I would presume) simple purchase, neither of us (the buyers or vendor) are in a chain.

I've chased withbthebthe EA who say it's up to the solicitors. The solicitors say they can't do anything until they receive the paperwork.

What can I do?

I feel your pain OP. We had this in the past, combo of the sellers being elderly and choosing both a rubbish solicitor and a rubbish EA. I hadn’t noticed to start with as like you we were focusing on all the stuff we needed to do. But once it got to 8 weeks I was phoning the EA twice a week to ask for progress. My solicitor was chasing theirs throughout too. We finally got the contract around 10 weeks in.

It wasn’t a good omen though as they dragged everything out and then changed their mind about selling at all another 4 months down the line. So be persistent, but also aware you can’t control other people and often money and huge amounts of time gets wasted unfortunately. Wishing you best of luck!

So is your vendor not moving to another home then? Or are they selling a property they rented out?
If the estate agents aren't pushing the vendors you may have to go through your solicitor explaining that you've done as much as you can and can't proceed any further until their solicitor provides the contract. You may need to give them a deadline for when you want to exchange.

@Changingname1988 yep very similar situation: vendor is elderly with no family so we don't want to push too hard incase it comes off as intimidating but means there's no one pushing!

Have been on to the EA three time this week. They agree that there's been some "miscommunication."

@blackcherryconserve vendor is moving in with friends in a different part of the country as looking to relocate.
We've sold and are living with family.

Baby is due end of September so although we started out not neededing to rush it's turning into a bit of a stress.

We are 4 weeks in,
cash buyer - ourselves - moving in with family.

our mortgage is in place, all searches complete on our sale and purchase but we have yet to recieve the initial fixtues and fittings forms and beleive solicitor is waiting for contract pack to send enquiries.

its very frustrating.
