Discoloured UPVC frames, candle soot or pollution how to clean?

Our window frames on the inside are discoloured with pale grey stains and I have no idea how to clean them. I’ve tried white vinegar and water, HG powerful cleaner, baby wipes, nothing is shifting the marks. I think they’re either from candle soot or pollution as the flat is by a busy road. Any ideas? 🙏🏻

Hi OP, we have the exact same problem. The only thing I've found that works is CIF cream. I just put it on neat. Good luck!

If you really can't shift the stains, you can paint them. I had to paint mine as they're that fake rosewood and I hated them. They've come up really well. I used zinsser primer, then a top coat.

You can buy UPVC frame cleaner which will shift that, whatever you do don't use CIF/cream cleaner as it with cause more problems than it cures (work for a double glazing company) we use professional solvent cleaner on frames it's strong stuff, you might be able to get some off a local installer or ask them to come out and have a go

We had the same problem. It's quite grimy in E17 where we live. We found a really good article on this and it worked for us plus it's eco friendly! https://colinssashwindows.co.uk/blog/green-shine-a-comprehensive-guide-to-eco-friendly-diy-window-cleaning/

Good luck!!!
