Have you bought or sold a second hand range cooker? (Not Aga type)

I have a 100cm Rangemaster that is about 8 years old, gas hob and electric ovens.

The ovens need a good clean and it has as much wear as you’d expect for a cooker that’s 8 years old but I think it has a lot of life in it yet.

We’re upgrading to an induction model so I need to get rid of the old one. I feel like it might be worth a couple of hundred quid to someone, but not sure how/where to go about advertising to sell. I know that some places sell reconditioned ones and would happily sell to a dealer. I asked on local Facebook if anyone knew of any and got no replies.

Should I use eBay? Facebook Marketplace? What should I offer in terms of delivery? I was thinking that we obviously disconnect from our gas supply and then say buyer has to collect?

It’s not that we need the money exactly but I guess I feel that it’s not ready for landfill yet and if it has a bit of value would be good to offset against the price of the new one.

Or is all this pie in the sky and in fact I need to price in paying someone to take it away?

We would buy second hand but only if it was clean. See them advertised on market place

I sold my 10 yr old rangemaster on eBay and got £500 for it which I was really pleased about. I paid £150 to have it professionally cleaned before I took the photos and it looked like new so obvs you have to deduct that from your money but it was well worth it and when I sold it (about 5 years ago) that particular model was still being sold new for £2K. Make it clear on your ad that the buyers will need to take it away. Better than a kick in the teeth though!

Ah sorry I should have said, I know that I would need to clean it myself for sale, I think I just mentioned it would need a clean to give an idea of the condition. Can see how that was misleading, thanks.

This is exactly the scenario I’m hoping for. Did you auction it, and was the buyer local?
