How much should I expect to pay for a skip?

Wondering how much I should pay for a 6 yard skip? The companies on https://www.skip-hires.com/ mostly don't publish their prices. Is £200 for a week reasonable?

I guess it depends what you need it for and the type of work but we did a wait and load in the past. They give a 2 hours window as to when they much turn up, then you have up to 30mins to load it. I think that was about £115(ish) for a small one.

but £200 for a couple of weeks sounds ok. You might need a skip licence though if it’s being put in the road and not on a driveway.

Here (Hampshire) a 6 yard skip will cost you £322 (including vat) for a week.

I’d be wary of these people. If they are able to undercut by loads, it is likely that they are illegally dumping it.

I think we paid about £400, but they left until we asked them to take it away.

Only deal with a reputable company (so they are unlikely to be the cheapest) and ensure that they have a proper waste licence as if they don't and dump it somewhere and it is traced back to you, you are responsible for it and you will be fined for fly tipping.

Flubadubba · 26/07/2024 17:57

We paid about that for 2 weeks with a 6 yard a month or so ago (expensive sussex market town)

Bootoagoose123 · 26/07/2024 17:59

About £280 I think for a week inc VAT, South London. Most individual companies round here show prices v clearly on their websites though.

SeeingRainbowsInTheGloom · 26/07/2024 18:23

About £260 round me. £200 sounds cheap, is that including VAT?

LeroyJenkinssss · 26/07/2024 18:54

£260 round here too and you have for as long as you need. But if they have got high demand for a certain size they ask for it back after two weeks

boredybored · 26/07/2024 18:55

about £400 in the south east . Those things are expensive !

FloordrobeIsGoingToGetME · 26/07/2024 18:56

They are expensive - and I'd advise always getting bigger than you think - they fill up quick (and not only with your own stuff 😡😡😡)

My borough, waltham forest has just hiked up the licence price, alone, to £155 plus the skip cost on top so your quote is good....and the rubble limit is 6 bags a month at local tip...so you have to pass them a few quid to do more trips etc but still cheaper than a skip.
