Creating new rooms downstairs - help!

Sorry if this is a dumb question!

Basically I’m going round in circles trying to figure out the order of getting started on building work and getting conflicting advice on who to contact first!

I would like to reconfigure my downstairs by knocking down some walls and building new ones. All internal work. Some walls I think are supporting walls. Some have sockets, plumbing for radiators etc.

So who do you call first?! What’s the order? How do I even find out if this is achievable? Is it a structural engineer to find out what walls are supporting? A surveyor? An architect? I’m so confused 😂 Help!!

i would try & get a recommendation for a general building company to quote you for walls out first. They might have a preferred structural engineer who they like to work with.

When I needed work doing that involved lots of different trades I used a building contractor. I worked with him, and he organised the electricians/carpenters/pljmbers/tilers/decorators when they were needed. He also dealt with building regs etc.
We did have architect plans to give him though, so he had a head start.
It was costly but each week I received a schedule of what was happening on what day so knew when to get out of the way. He also arranged furniture removal, floor and wall protection and a big clean up afterwards.
I also found it easier to deal with any discrepancies I noticed as I just had to mention it to him rather than go direct to the plumber etc.
