Flats and soundproofing

Hi, has anyone ever soundproofed their ceiling before, and does it work? I am in a ground floor garden flat but whoever moves in above whether they have carpets, rugs or wooden floors there is just a lot of noise (always nice folk, just the building, I think).

We tried to soundproof the party wall in an end terrace. It cost us a fortune and didn’t work at all, I feel your pain.
I think they would have to lift their floorboards and soundproof the joists and space there for it to be the most cost effective option, it’s a lot of work to do from your side removing the plasterboard, insulating then replastering.

^To soundproof against the unwanted noise from above travelling to the room below, it is always best to soundproof the floor at the source (for impact noise).
However, soundproofing a ceiling against noisy neighbours can be effectively and easily done by installing the ReductoClip Ceiling System which can be used on both timber joisted and concrete ceilings. The ReductoClip ceiling System can be installed by a competent DIYer, or local tradesperson.^
