I thought it would be simple...

We've been in the process of selling our house, which has been a lengthy process since the initial offer was made way back in February of this year by a first time buyer.

Four weeks ago, we agreed with the buyer to lower the price of our house by 1k, a decision we made to help move things along more smoothly. The buyer’s lender is still in the process of amending the paperwork to reflect the new price, and there seems to be no end in sight.

Is this normal? How do we address this issue with the buyer without causing any unnecessary friction? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Find a new buyer, put your house on the market again - you'll get more. This is not normal; you should be near the end stages and if not completed by now.

This seems very strange..I would be getting your agent to ask for something from the buyers mortgage broker to at least confirm that they are pushing it and what the timescales/issue is, assuming you want to continue with these purchasers. What's your situation- how patient are the people up the chain?
