Can you outsource a home maintenance to do list?

What it says on the tin. We are well off, two high incomes no kids. I resisted getting a cleaner but it’s given me half a day a week back so it’s money well spent.

There is a never ending list of things that need doing on the house. DH is very capable, me less so, but tbh I am also happy to throw money at the problem. I keep ontop of some stuff (this week I deweeded the driveway, fun all round) but have no desire to spend half my weekends doing house and garden maintenance. But even throwing money at the problem seems to take forever. You have 5 jobs and 4 of them need different companies/contractors so you have to research them, find someone who’s not a psycho (yes we did have a psycho round to quote for gutter cleaning once who I thought was going to start a physical fight with DH), coordinate what needs doing & then check they’ve not messed it up… Presumably properly rich people with busy jobs do not spend their lives doing this - so what do they do? Even if it was a one off expense to get through the todo list I would consider it…

(I am also guilty of not really knowing what’s on the list, DH sees this stuff and feels a huge amount of stress and guilt that it’s not getting done, whereas I grew up in a house where lots of things didn’t get done and no-one died. So I guess I am more blasé about it - but do appreciate we need to keep ontop of maintenance to not have expensive problems later on!)

I believe you can employ "concierge" type people who will take on the organisation and responsibilities of any aspects of your life, like a kind of PA, so I'm sure you could employ someone to run your home maintenance for you.

Yes you just need a general home maintenance person. Bring him in 1 day a week like the cleaner and give them
your list.

Look at The Concierge Group, they seem to do exactly that kind of thing.

The Concierge Group do look like exactly what I’m looking for - thanks! Will see what DH thinks.

(And whether they actually cover our area)

Have a look for property maintenance companies on your area, lots of businesses do this kind of general home and garden maintenance

Move somewhere smaller and low maintenance, an apartment where this is all included.

Thanks. Property maintenance seems to have a lot of companies aimed at landlords (which from my experience of renting didn’t tend to be much good, though I admittedly never rented anywhere very nice).

Moving back into an apartment wouldn’t work for us (lots of reasons but would also be financially insane, so could spend quite a bit on maintenance before that became a good choice ;))
