If you hate your home...

Just as the title says really.
I absolutely loathe our current house which we bought in a hurry as we sold our previous place quickly during the boom.
It's on the market and we will have to take a hit on the price just to escape.
It's cheap for the very sought after village it's in but this is reflected in a poorly planned road and cramped plots with lots of parking issues plus scary anti social behaviour from a couple of residents who clearly have alcohol abuse issues. Lots of renters but those who have any choice don't last long.
I'm having to keep quiet in order to get the place sold as I don't want to have to declare neighbours disputes so need to vent anonymously!
Anyone else in similar situations?

I don't exactly hate our home but I've been stuck and desperate to move for years. It's not a bad place, lots of green space, decent neighbours and schools but it holds bad memories, as well as good. A neighbour once said it was an unlucky house, bad things had happened to the last 3 families living in the house!

Re your parking issues, a former neighbour got around this by holding an open day and asking the neighbours to park their cars elsewhere for a few hours. She got 3 offers. Slightly dishonest but it worked.

I think as you're selling it at a reasonable price and it's a sought after village it'll sell eventually, especially when the market picks up, whenever that is.

Me too. I’d barely got my key in the door before the awful neighbour started with their demands. In the few weeks since it’s racked up to cause just enough annoyance but not quite harassment - although I’ve been advised to keep a diary. I’m already looking to sell and of course taking a huge hit but I can only see it getting worse. Previous people lived here years so I think it’s personal - although quite what I did to offend within 30 seconds of meeting them is a mystery. Luckily I can stay at my boyfriend’s but what an expensive mistake.. I really do feel for you as I just dread going there - cannot wait to get shot.

Sounds very similar to our situation.
I try to forget once I'm indoors but spend as much time as possible out. I feel sick as I arrive "home"!

I was like this but not so much about the house. I had left my favourite house and I didn't expect to love the next one and I certainly didn't expect to have two sets of vile neighbors which meant I sold up very quickly.

Like you I dreaded going home.

With this one I just knew I'd like it here.

Yes, we did! We followed the advice that you can't change location but you can change everything about the house. We previously owned a turn key renovated property in a shit location. Now we own a shit house that needs modernising in a great location. Turns out, we don't care that much about location but we do care about feeling happy, clean, and comfy inside our house. We don't have the time or energy for all the work the house needs (despite having the funds). The amount of time I have wasted waiting for tradespeople who never show up is ridiculous. I feel constantly stressed at home because all I see is work. We'd love to sell and move but the stress of doing so is equally off-putting and just not something we can do right now. So we're stuck for now.

Ours needs doing up too but getting trades is nearly impossible plus I just can't be arsed!
We've made some cosmetic changes and anything essential has been sorted- guttering , plumbing etc.
It's devoid of character yet not new and shiny if that's your thing, but the cheapest place in a desirable location, which is sound advice but not if you hate living there.
