Dust EVERYWHERE

We're having our house rewired and have moved out for the week. We moved virtually all our stuff from the house into storage and then put the big furniture pieces we couldn't move out into the centre of the room as they asked. They said they'd cover it all with dust sheets. They haven't. DH went back to check on the house last night and EVERYTHING, including our sofa and mattresses, is covered in layers and layers of fucking dust. I'm very allergic - if I breathe in any significant amount of dust I end up with a horrendous running, itchy nose and breathing issues for weeks. I'm also pregnant so this really isn't ideal.

DH emailed the company last night and they apologised, said they "forgot," and put dust sheets over the furniture piles this morning but it's too bloody late now! Would I be unreasonable to ask them to get our soft furniture cleaned properly after they've finished, or knock something off the final price so we can sort a proper clean? I don't want to piss them off before they've finished the work, and DH will be able to clean it himself when they've gone, but it'll take a lot longer and we're paying thousands for this work to be done. I highly doubt they'd have forgotten to cover their own bloody furniture.

It is poor that they didn't use the dust sheets. And maybe worth asking them for a gesture of goodwill to get your stuff cleaned.

But if the work is otherwise good I would probably suck it up (literally).

Getting decent trades these days is pretty hard work and if the only issue at the end of a job is something like dust then it is probably minor compared with the poor quality/shoddy work that some people end up having to put up with.

Also do you intend using them again in the future.

Wait till they they have done then bring it up and ask for it either to be cleaned ( they pay ) or you get it cleaned and they still pay 😀. No harm in getting a quote now so you can be ready .
