Oil based paint for a table

I have an old pine table that I am painting. I've sanded it and primed with a shellac primer.
It's going to get heavy use so I decided chalk paint was probably not durable enough.
Went to B&Q (an hour round trip) for some water based white eggshell paint and bought Dulux. Just realised it's oil based.
Will it be okay or would I be better using water based paint.

Oil-based is way more durable than water-based. Stinks to high-heaven and takes ages to dry though. So depends what you are looking for.

I have a desk that's painted in water based gloss and it drives me nuts the way it just absorbs filth in a way oil-based gloss never does.

Thanks for your reply @Tupster . It's a round pine table which I decided to paint white.
I went ahead and put a coat of the oil based paint on. Unfortunately two coats of zinisser shellac primer still hasn't sealed sufficiently and it's it's coming through yellow already 😭.
So I'm going to have to get a different colour to use that won't show the yellow as much.
