Waiting for sale to go through - how often do you look at your (new) house details

I seem to be looking at it every couple of days. I think about if I can seen any plugs on the photos, then go and check. Or, try and work out if our table, coffee table etc will fit.

We're hoping to go and have another look at the weekend as it's driving us both a bit mad. We need to measure a few things.

We're hoping to exchange/complete in July.

how many times have you viewed?

Bemusedandconfusedagain · 16/06/2024 15:09

I was similar. It was useful for planning where things would go etc so that I had a plan for moving day as removal people work so fast. Plus it's a huge amount of money to spend and an exciting time so it's only natural to want to look.

BG2015 · 16/06/2024 15:12

I went on my own initially then my DP came with me a few days later.

This was in late April.

All the time…and because it was unoccupied I “may” have gone and nosied through the windows more than once. 😂

In Scotland so the whole thing was done and dusted in 6 weeks

Regularly! Planning ideas, furniture requirements, decorating etc.

MovingToPlan · 16/06/2024 15:24

I blew up the floorplan and had it laminated so we could draw furniture layouts on with dry eraser markers. 😅

We're completing tomorrow and look at the pics regularly. Our offer was accepted back in February, we had a second viewing with dc in April, so it's been a while.

ABirdsEyeView · 16/06/2024 15:26

I think it's normal to look at it lots- it's the most amount of money you'll ever spend on something you've only seen once or twice!

geminiflanagan · 16/06/2024 15:29

Bloody loads, probably near enough every day I was looking at floor plans and working out furniture and decoration.

We had our offer accepted mid May last year but didn't complete until first week December. Viewed it 3 times in total, the 3rd time was because it was taking so long that I needed to remind myself why we loved it!

BG2015 · 16/06/2024 15:38

Im glad - I was worried I was bordering on obsessive.

It's amazing how little you take in during that 15 minute slot. Wish I'd taken more photos myself now.

@geminiflanagan that's a LONG time

I do it all the time too, we had the offer accepted start of may and just received the fixtures and fittings list and all the paperwork, so we shouldn't be too long hopefully!

BG2015 · 16/06/2024 16:42

@Ohwelldone we had our offer accepted on the 1st May. Searches are due back on Tuesday so we are hoping to see some movement and indication of completion date.

We're pushing for 12th July completion. We go on holiday the following weekend 20th July for 2 weeks so then it will be August before we can move in.

We're currently living with my parents so are desperate to move. The vendor of the house we're buying is moving into a bungalow she's inherited so no chain involved. No mortgages either so hoping it's very quick now, although we are at the mercy of the conveyancers.

Have you been given an exchange date yet?

I’m a garden designer and use 3d modelling software. I’m waiting until we exchange before I whip up a 3d model of the house and start playing around with the furniture layout, and do little walk through. Resisting until then as I’m afraid I’ll jinx the sale if I do.

We are 1st time buyers so I've no idea how the process works really 😅 We havent been given a completion date yet, our solicitors have sent the sellers solicitors their queries, so I guess it depends how quickly they get back to them and then how far along the seller is with her purchase. I know she has found another property with no chain luckily! I'm hopeful that's it and then we can discuss dates.
Fingers crossed for you for July!

LividPink · 16/06/2024 16:54

I took a video during the viewing. I must have watched it XXXXXX times.

Due to complicated reasons, I only viewed once and the move itself was take-to-court stressful and ridiculous, but I was glad I had that video!

Twiglets1 · 16/06/2024 17:14

I get obsessed and would be looking at the details online at least once a day probably more tbh. Just in case anything changed 😆
