Bathrooms !

First time in 20 years that we’re getting our bathroom done
we have a seperate loo down stairs but aside from that this is “the bathroom “ so we’ve decided as it’s a big space to rejig it and make an small en-suite and reduce family bathroom size a bit. We’re a family of 4 with older kids who hog the current bathroom !!
I’m struggling to find a bathroom company / tried victoria plumb they seemed hopeless and can’t get in touch with anyone as our designer left. So tried a local one and price is huge ?
question is where do I shop for a reasonably priced bathroom
i have a builder who will install and so I just need to design and purchase a reasonably priced bathroom.
I'm london based if that helps
Thanks 🙏

If you have a builder already then ask them where they get the biggest discount on bathroom stuff and visit the shops

Ask them to order whatever they can. The advantage is they can keep things for you at the shop. E.g. our bath was delivered to the shop a week in advance and was only delivered to the house a day or two before it was needed

Shop around. Ask for price matches for everything - even call up the internet shops if they have something you like and you can see something close enough but at a lesser price elsewhere.

We didn't have a designer but designed our self on excel. Measured everything and laid it all out in the spready. And printed pictures from the internet or bathroom showrooms for the look and feel.

I agree that you don't need a designer;there is a limit to the number of permutations available. We visited a few bathroom shops to get an idea of what we wanted and then discussed with the builder the feasibility and got some suggestions for suppliers/ manufacturers. We measured up and ordered on line but if you are happy with your builder they can order for you.

At the shop they will have a multitude of catalogues to browse. Don't be shy to ask which are the more practical ones - I e. have some of everything and at reasonable prices. Then just look through those catalogues.

Thanks everyone
I’m nervous about getting it wrong it’s a bit of an odd shape space now but stuck with some plumbing eg the lip on an outside wall !!
I’ll try and plan it out and post if

We did a couple of bathrooms recently. Depending where you are in London, we're East and I used Gracious Living in Highams Park. Also visited City Bathrooms showroom for ideas. Crosswater seems to be a good brand and Burlington if going for a more traditional look.

I'm having my bathroom done right now (south east london).

I picked a vanity I loved and then chose the rest around that.

If you go to a plumbers merchant they will have lots of catalogues you can take and if you ask them eg I want a back to wall rimless comfort height toilet with a square toilet seat, they will probably be able to help you find it more quickly.

They will also be able to tell you what is good quality.

Just to note - it's worth going to a showroom as they change stock frequently and you may get an ex display vanity unit or shower screen for example at a discounted price.

Measure it and stick a plan on here. Lots of people have done bathrooms and you will get plenty of advice
