Heating on

Does anyone have their heating on?

This is my first spring/summer in my new house and I'm constantly cold.

I know we are having a particularly cold spring/summer this year, but even on cooler days in my old house I wouldn't need to even consider putting it on between March and late Autumn.

Yes, I’ve put it on twice now as it felt so cold and damp

Nellieinthebarn · 09/06/2024 15:21

No, but I am wearing a big cardi. I don't think it's as cold as I feel though, or the heating would come on by itself. I think it's the contrast of being able to swan about in a t shirt yesterday.

GasPanic · 09/06/2024 15:23

No.

Turn it off at the end of March and it will not come on until the end of October.

April is normally a bit tough but it is fine at the moment.

I'm wearing a vest, a jumper a fleece and a scarf.

Me-thinks I need to get the roof insulated.

Yes this morning briefly, but even in 32 degrees our house is cool and cave-like due to aspect and lack of direct sunlight. I'm now sat with 2 jumpers on and debating getting my Oodie back out of winter clothes storage 🙄

Depending on the type of house you’ve bought, you might be losing a lot of heat. Chalet bungalows for instance of a certain age will be Baltic in the winter.

Mine pinged on for 30 mins yesterday morning. In Hampshire and it obviously dropped below 16°.

YeahWhateverGoAway · 09/06/2024 15:29

My house isn't particularly cold normally, but I dropped the heating on for 30 mins earlier. I was fed up with feeling cold in every room.

EatCrow · 09/06/2024 15:30

8 degrees where I am. Nothing to do with the property. Shit weather.

IseultHam · 09/06/2024 15:30

Nope in the south and it's 22° in the sitting room. It didn't drop below 19° overnight In here

I won't put the heating on but I do have my dressing gown on top of my jeans and tee shirt

It's not a dressing gown of doom 😂

Aspect/ age/ insulation plays a big role. Our house is south facing with a lot of glass and stays v warm. I went to see the house we are buying which is north west facing and it was lovely and cool. However in winter it’s going to take a lot of heating.
