Painting floor tiles

We want to paint the floor tiles in our guest bathroom.
Has anyone done something similar? Which paint did you use? Did you paint the grout a different colour? Are you happy with the result after a few months?

Please don't waste your time suggesting we put new floor tiles down - we don't want to spend £££ to do a half job.

What is it you don't like about the tiles?

I've never known anyone to do this, who didn't end up regretting it. The paint wears away / chips and looks an absolute mess, even in areas with less foot traffic. Within a few months you'll be wishing you just put some vinyl over the top or left them alone.

No you need to either take them up or live with them. Painting them won't last long in a bathroom environment unless you use a two part epoxy paint. Horrible stuff and the amount of pre painting prep required if the tiles are smooth means you might as well just replace.

I was going to use Rust-oleum floor tile paint - water-based paint so it's not so horrible to work with! The tiles were cracked and loose - we have fixed the loose thing bit but the cracks look a bit obvious, it's a natural stone floor, I was going to paint it a similar shade so if it did chip it wouldn't look so obvious - no one would walk on it with anything other than socks or bare feet.

And the bathroom won't be subject to daily use - it's a guest bathroom.
