Is 7m x 7m big enough for an open plan kitchen, diner, seating?

Also big enough for an island too? Any pics of plans/designs or houses very welcome as I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with layout etc! We are in the early planning stages and I’m finding it hard to visualise the space.

That's a fairly large kitchen so will fit an island.
Does it have to be a square space?
A narrower, longer space would be easier to zone: kitchen, dining, seating

It’s either that or an approx 9m by 7m but with part of that taken up with the current utility so an L shape - kitchen in the L bit would be approx 4.5x3.5m and the rest 4.5 x 7m could be the dining/seating areas.

Ours is 6.5 x 6.5 and that’s big enough for a kitchen with large island and a 8-10 seat dining table. We couldn’t fit in a seating area.

If we made the dining table smaller you could for a small sofa in but I don’t think it would be very spacious

I’d go for the L shape around the utility and have living area in the smaller bit (where you said kitchen), kitchen in middle corner pf L, dining space other end.

but positioning of doors, windows, etc would also be a factor - do you have a plan with these in?

Do you have a diagram of the layout - ie where any entrances are and where the garden is?

It could be done, but it will all be rather small - so a small island and a small sofa, or a small kitchen area.

Ours is slightly less than that 6.8 by 6.7 and it fits a kitchen and dining table. That feels spacious, but I think an island or seating would make it feel cramped.

There must be loads of examples on Pinterest, it's what every person is doing now when extending houses.

Personally, I would rethink. The trend of having a big open space like that won't last forever and personally I think it's really impractical for most families. It results in no privacy and a space that's hard to keep tidy.

I agree with others though, 7m x 7m may not be enough if you want a decent sized kitchen and want it to look spacious rather than cramped.

We would have a separate living room also if that makes a difference .
